  vealed that 54 per cent of Australians would consider pur- chasing an electric vehicle as their next car.
Before too long, however, people won’t have too much of a choice, with several car manufacturers having now set time- lines to become fully electric: Jaguar Land Rover (2025), Vol- vo (2030), Mazda (2030), Ford in Europe (2030), Nissan (early 2030s), GM (2035), Daimler (2039), and Honda (2040).
And although they haven’t made it entirely clear how they hope to achieve it yet, Victoria has set a sales target of 50 per cent of all new vehicles being EVs by 2030, and NSW has a similar target of 53 per cent of all new car sales being electric by 2030-31 (a recent projection from ACA Research says that six per cent of cars on Australian roads in 2030 will be EVs, which makes these state sales targets seem a bit optimistic).
The required infrastructure is also being put in place to handle the slow and steady increase in EVs.
