A much-improved repair centre
achieved by decluttering then reorganising by putting processes
and procedures in place. This is a good example of Minimum Viable Product. Congratulation on your achievements Julie and team.
ing. There are two prep bays, two booths and a nice clean paint mixing room.
Brighton Panel Works has a tradition of undertaking prestige work but is now has a contract for fixed price non-drives which has meant a constant volume of work. It has taken a great deal of adjust- ment by the team but Numanoglu is now happy with the mix of work which is 80% non-drive and 20% drive. The ad- vantage of nearly 50 years on the scene is that the business has a lot of repeat custom and word of mouth recommen- dations. The shop is Volvo accredited and works closely with both the local Volvo dealership and other dealerships in the area. The team, which take part in I-CAR training, can deliver around 30 repaired cars per week.
Numanoglu also has a strong presence on social media with regular updates on Facebook, Instagram and Linkedin. The business has over 50 Google reviews and are highly rated, their overall score being dragged down by some ‘dodgy’ reviews - you all know the ones where they were never a customer.
Looking to the future there could be another OEM badge in the pipeline. This is a true family business with one son a qualified painter who has now moved into management and son number two has started prepping and cleaning cars and may start an apprenticeship next year. Numanoglu’s husband co-ordi- nates the parts and helps out in other areas of the business.
It’s been a tough couple of years for almost everyone in the Victorian colli- sion repair industry but Numanoglu has held the business’ head above water, used any downtime to make improve- ments and can, fingers crossed for no more lockdowns, continue improving the business and expanding the strong base of work providers.
