ARBS Awards celebrates a decade of excellence
GEA Bock
preparing for
a 2020 sale
DÜSSELDORF-BASED TECHNOLOGY GROUP GEA is exploring a possible sale of GEA Bock as part of the Group’s continued focus on its strategic core markets – the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
GEA plans to divest selected activities of the future Farm Technologies and Refrigeration Technologies divisions.
The GEA Bock business, which is part of the Refrigeration Technologies division, will no long- er be treated as a core business of the GEA Group. A sale is expected to take place in the course of 2020. Both employee rep-
resentatives and employ- ees have been informed about the intended sale.
GEA Bock is a leading
supplier of open and

tion capacity range for

port-related cooling ap- Aktiengesellschaft. plications. The company
employs around 300 staff worldwide with two- thirds of employees based at the company’s headquarters in Frickenhausen, Germany. The company has three additional locations: in the Czech Republic, India and China.
Stefan Klebert, CEO of GEA Group Aktienge- sellschaft, said GEA Bock has a strong market position with excellent products.
“Since becoming part of the GEA Group, the business has developed very encouragingly and today generates significantly more sales than when it was acquired by GEA in 2011,” Klebert said.
“Unfortunately, the synergies in the areas of portfolio, customers and development envisaged at the time of acquisition have not materialized.
“GEA is convinced that GEA Bock has signifi- cantly better development potential outside the GEA Group structure and strategy.”

THE ARBS INDUSTRY AWARDS CELEBRATES A DECADE OF EXCELLENCE IN 2020.
THE AWARDS OFFICIALLY launched in 2010 in Melbourne.
Tech architect, Nirosha Munasinghe, was the inaugural winner of the Young Achiever Award in 2010 after he was involved in devel- oping open system control products for the HVAC market. He also launched an Australi- an- owned controls company, Open General, which developed BACnet based fully pro- grammable direct digital controllers, net- working devices and powerful web-based
user interface which were installed in buildings throughout Australia.
The very first ARBS Young Achiever Award winner in 2010, Nirosha Munasinghe.
Reflecting on his win from almost a decade ago Nirosha described it as unforgettable.
“Winning this award was a great honour to me at that time and really catapulted my career. It was not expected, we were a very small company back then – a small start-up in Melbourne,” he said. “It gave a presence to our company, and we were able to es- tablish a distribution network around Australia.”
In the last five years, Nirosha has been roll- ing out smart meters in a project and opera- tional capacity.
“I am also collaborating in an advisory role with a start-up currently in stealth mode and we hope to release a product within the energy sec- tor in the coming year,” he said.
“There is no doubt the HVAC industry is really innovative and growing.”
The extraordinary talent from within the in- dustry will be honoured at the ARBS 2020 Indus- try Awards which will be held during the ARBS 2020 exhibition, from May 19-21, 2020 at the Mel- bourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. ARBS exhibition manager, Sue Falcke, said award recipients join a small but influential group of industry high-achievers.
