IT WILL BE Australia’s first utility-scale Li-ion battery facility to sell storage prod- ucts optimised for hot climates.
The licensing agreement pairs Cadenza Inno- vation’s patented technology, design and global battery industry expertise with Energy Renais- sance’s advanced manufacturing and sales ca- pability, along with its long-term commitment to employ Australian resources.
Complementing other battery manufacturing facilities in operation or planned for Australia, Energy Renaissance’s 1.3 GWh Renaissance One will be the only facility dedicated to providing
commercial-scale, high value, reliable and safe energy storage systems.
The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
Initially targeting the utility/grid, electric ve- hicle (EV) and industrial markets, Cadenza In- novation’s patented supercell serves as the cor- nerstone of its novel architecture.
Providing unparalleled simplification in bat- tery pack design, it substantially reduces pro- duction and manufacturing costs, overcomes safety issues and improves energy density.
Australia added more stored power capacity

Deal to create Li-ion battery manufacturing facility
AN AMERICAN TECHNOLOGY COMPANY, CADENZA INNOVATION, HAS INKED A DEAL WITH AUSTRALIAN FIRM ENERGY RENAISSANCE WHICH WILL FACILITATE THE FIRST LITHIUM-ION BATTERY MANUFACTURING FACILITY IN THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE.
– 246 megawatts – than any other nation in 2017, according to Wood Mackenzie Power & Renewables.
Moreover, figures from the Clean Energy Council show that Australia’s renewable energy and storage project pipeline surpassed $20 bil- lion worth of investments last year, with 14.6 GW of projects under construction around the coun- try which will deliver 12,000 direct jobs.
Energy Renaissance chair Su McCluskey, said Australia is gaining global attention as a nation with all the resources needed to capitalize on the unprecedented demand for batteries, ener- gy storage systems and renewables.
“With rapidly expanding end markets ranging from utilities, transportation and industrials to stand-alone solutions for remote areas, the time is now for our country and our company to step up to this massive, immediate opportunity,” Mc- Cluskey said.
Cadenza Innovation was founded in 2012 and is led by its founder and CEO, Dr. Christina Lam- pe-Onnerud. co-chair of the World Economic Fo- rum’s Global Future Council on Energy.
She said the world is deploying clean technolo- gies at unprecedented rates for compelling envi- ronmental reasons and because doing so is quickly becoming cheaper than the last-genera- tion energy paradigm.
“Today, there is an insatiable need for reliable batteries to facilitate renewable energy from solar, wind and hydro as well as for enabling better efficiency for traditional energy sources,” Lampe-Omnerud said. “Energy Renaissance is moving aggressively to address those require- ments in a country that is proving itself a global leader in this transition. We’re excited to play a key role in those efforts.”

MHI Thermal Systems create a joint venture in China
MITSUBISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES Thermal Systems, has formed a joint venture (JV) with a Chinese construction engineering company Nantong Hualong.
The joint venture will undertake installation and engineering services of centrifugal chillers, air-conditioners and heat pump water heaters throughout China.
The JV was founded through Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air-conditioners (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (MHIAS), a wholly owned subsidiary of MHI Thermal Systems based in Shanghai.
MHI Thermal Systems created the new com-
pany with the aim of expanding sales in China by strengthening installation and engineering functions through a majority-owned JV.
Moreover, the JV will sell equipment in a bid to expand the sale of MHI branded products.
Nantong Hualong is well established in China and has a reputation for its safety management and quality control at construction sites.
In a statement, MHI Thermal Systems said its products which utilize the natural refrigerant CO2, coupled with the installation and engineer- ing capabilities of its new JV, stands to strength- en its competitive position in China.
