HVACR Leadership Awards
Champions of the future
EVERY SUCCESSFUL AND dynamic organi- sation in the climate control industry boasts one or two rising stars.
As part of CCN's HVACR Leadership Awards, the search is on for the future cham- pions of our industry.
This category – which is a double award – recognises our future leaders, those men and women who are still under the age of 30.
Sponsored by ABB, the Rising Star Award is presented to a Male Rising Star and a Female Rising Star.
It recognises young achievers rising quickly through the ranks, or a male or female that has contributed to a project, product or program that has been a success.
Last year's winners were Temperzone technician, Sean Hart, and Heatcraft fridgie, Shayne Boyle.
Both of these rising stars are passionate about the trade and are looking forward to an exciting future.
ABB's business unit manager for drives, Mi- chael Briggs, is a big believer in recognising up and coming talent.
“The Rising Star category uncovers the high performers within the industry and an awards program helps motivate them even more,” he said.
Female Rising Star, Shane Boyle, accepting her award at the 2017 CCN Live event.
“It is also important to have a dual award that recognises young men and women individually. "Increased diversity makes HVACR a more attractive employment destination, thereby attracting the best technical and commer- cial talent coming out of our trade schools
and universities.”
Diversity is key to a talented workforce
A proud history of innovation
THERE WAS A time when innovation was syn- onymous with industries like information technol- ogy or biotechnology but that’s certainly changed.
Innovation has become necessary for any company seeking market leadership and it cer- tainly applies to HVACR.
While HVACR is a well established leader in energy efficiency and sustainability, there are so many other areas where this industry is making a difference.
Just take a look at past winners of this award including Samit Sen of Johnson Controls.
In 2016 the winner was Steve Oakley, manag- ing director of Heuch Refrigeration, a company that commercialised the world's first 100 per cent solar powered refrigeration container.
Here we are in 2018 and the search is on for this year's Innovator of the Year. Its an opportu- nity to recognise an innovative project, program or product that has made a difference in HVACR.
Are you an innovator or do you know an inno- vator that is worthy of an award?
The sponsor of this award, Toshiba Air Condi- tioning, recognises the importance of support- ing industry innovators.
The company's business unit manager, John Caione, describes innovation as the lifeblood of growth.
“Innovation needs to be encouraged, we want to inspire the next generation of innovators through this awards program,” Caione said.

THE SEARCH IS on for women working in HVACR who are blazing a pioneering path for other women to follow.
CCN is looking for a woman that loves the HVACR industry and supports the role wom- en play in creating a diverse
workplace.
field and show that she is a source of inspiration for other women.
The goal of this award is to attract more wom- en to the HVACR industry.
Daikin marketing manager, Dan Tosh, said the employment of more women into HVACR is about more than
fulfilling a quota.
"We need to encourage more
positive role models as well as create a supportive and inclusive working environment," Tosh said.
"A company can only grow stronger by having a diverse range of employees working with- in an organisation, and by spon- soring the Women of the Year in HVACR Award, we hope to en- courage more women to want to grow their careers successfully
within the industry.”
If that's you then its time to nominate for the Woman of the Year in HVACR Award.
The award is in its third year and past winners have been ANZ commercial manager at Airmas- ter, Kelli McDonald and Edefice director, Ania Hampton.
Daikin is a proud sponsor of this award which recognises the successful career of a woman working in HVACR.
