Portfolio of controllers to maximise value
THE MODICON M172 HVACR PLCs and accessories are ideal for a range of applications, from smaller HVACR and pumping systems to large refrigeration rack systems.
The new line includes the Modi- con M172 Optimized series – devel- oped to provide optimum perfor- mance and control for HVAC/R applications at minimum cost where network communication is not required, and the Modicon M172 Performance series – de- signed with Native BacNet and Modbus network communications embedded, ideal for modular and distributed architectures. Together, they provide OEMs benchmark per- formance with greater flexibility to design and build more efficient ma-
chines at a lower cost to increasing profitability. “The new Modicon M172 HVACR controllers are de- signed for today’s IIoT environment and provide the intuitive features and functions that machine build- ers need to secure market differen- tiation and improve their bottom lines,” the company said.
“From small to very large HVACR machines and pumping systems, we are proud to offer a full portfolio of controllers and panel components that maximize value around operational efficien- cy and reliability for both engi- neers and their customers.” At the core of Schneider Electric’s HVAC/R machine solutions is the SoMachine HVAC v3.0 Software. Built on its Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled open and interoper- able system architecture, this plat-
form delivers time-saving innovation with ready-to- use applications and func- tion blocks developed spe- cifically for HVAC/R and
pumping machines reduc- ing the cost of engineering. This feature-rich platform also includes a QR Code Generator and built-in web server for the user to link maintenance pages, electrical drawings and send messages and software upgrades via the Cloud. Plus, enhanced cybersecurity for
remote access/connection.

Systems to control air quality
KEMPER GMBH SHOWCASED its smart extraction technology last month including its AirWatch air monitoring system, the CleanAirTow- er SF ventilation system with replacement filter and the mobile torch extraction unit VacuFil 125.
KEMPER CEO, Björn Kemper, said thanks to machine-machine communication, users gain better control of their systems and can pro- tect their employees from hazardous materials effectively.
With the advanced AirWatch air monitoring system, the company presented an intelligent solution for measuring and controlling indoor hall air quality. The system uses a highly sensitive laser method to de- tect particles even smaller than 0.3 micrometers.
AirWatch can be flexibly extended since the sensor modules are re- placeable / retrofittable. The system not only displays the recorded val- ues but also uses SIM card technology to control extraction systems and store data on a cloud.
KEMPER also presented the CleanAirTower SF (storage filter) with integrated air monitoring software. The general ventilation system measures the particle concentration in the hall's air without additional equipment. The CleanAirTower SF also has a high separation efficiency of more than 99 % and works using the recommended layered ventila- tion principle.
Filters can be changed completely without contamination.
The torch extractor VacuFil 125 always provides optimal extraction performance based on the parameters stored in the KEMPER Cloud Portal. The device considers various torch characteristics, like individ- ually varying pressure gradients or saturation of the filter. Welders sim- ply select the corresponding torch type on an intuitive interface.
