THE FUTURE OF COLOUR
FORGET PHYSICAL SPRAYOUT CARDS SAYS PPG. ITS NEW DIGIMATCH SPECTRO AND VISUALIZID 3D VISUALISATION SOFTWARE TAKES COLOUR MATCHING INTO A WHOLE NEW DIMENSION.
colour formulations from the search re- sults and put a digital sprayout right next to the target vehicle colour. This allows technicians to make comparisons as if they were holding a conventional sprayout card against the vehicle. At the click of a button, they can select and compare any of the colour results on the list. VisualizID also offers a wide range of options, includ- ing ‘blend view’ and ‘edge view’, as well as different angles to assess the flash, flop and face of the colour. The 3D colour

sprayouts can also be rotated to any de- sired viewing direct and the light source direction can be moved around to help view different effects. You can even zoom right into the images to help pick up po- tentially subtle differences.
The combination of DigiMatch and Vis- ualizID will be available to PPG customers to use via a reasonably priced subscrip- tion mode. For a demonstration contact your PPG Territory Manager.
AUNCHED AS PART OF THE ON-
going global rollout of the PPG LINQ end-to-end digital ecosys- tem, the DigiMatch spectropho- tometer and VisualizID 3D visualisa- tion software are perfect partners. Together, they dramatically streamline the colour matching process using innovative solu- tions which virtually eliminate the need for time consuming sprayout cards and other analogue colour tools. Using this game changing technology, lets you quickly and precisely choose the best colour formula- tion for the job from PPG’s vast data base
without using a single drop of tinter.
SIX APPEAL
Featuring six angles of reflectance meas- urement, as well as an inbuilt digital col- our camera gathering data from six imag- ing angles, the next generation DigiMatch spectrophotometer instantly sets a new benchmark. It’s also compact, light- weight and easy to use, even with one hand, while its intuitive 2.8-inch touch- screen with large icons makes it quick to navigate through the process of taking readings. Importantly, by taking read- ings from six angles of reflectance, along with six camera angles, DigiMatch cap- tures an extraordinary amount of data about the vehicle colour being measured. In particular, the six colour camera im- ages provide crucial texture information about pigment particle size, etc – some- thing that is simply not available with conventional portable spectros. This highly detailed colour and texture infor- mation is seamlessly transferred to the VisualizID function in Paintmanager XI via WiFi or using the docking station.
EASY COLOUR VISUALISING
The VisualizID 3D visualisation software
uses advanced technology to make the move from physical sprayout cards to 3D digital sprayout cards. It’s made possible by the rich information picked up by the DigiMatch spectro, combined with in- novative VisualizID software and clever, behind-the-scenes, PPG de- veloped colour science algorithms VisualizID is able to generate a clear im- age of every single Envirobase high Per- formance waterborne basecoat colour formula within the PPG database.
After readings are taken, DigiMatch data is downloaded to PaintManager XI and a manufacturer’s colour code search is performed to bring up the closest colour formulations, complete with a ‘match rat- ing’ and how closely they compare in terms of effects coarseness. On one side of the screen, VisualizID will display a digi- tal rendering of the target vehicle colour, created from DigiMatch spectro data. On the other side, you can select any of the
