Staff at the Rottenburg- Hailfingen factory are now producing condensers.
BITZER expands production capacity
FOLLOWING THE
ACQUISITION OF THE ALFA LAVAL PORTFOLIO OF SHELL AND TUBE EVAPORATORS AND CONDENSERS IN APRIL 2018, BITZER HAS BEEN BUSY TRANSFERRING PRODUCTION FROM ITALY TO GERMANY.
MANUFACTURING HAS NOW been trans- ferred from the Alfa Laval factory in Italy to Bitz- er's factory in Rottenburg-Hailfingen.
In fact BITZER shipped its very first German manufactured condenser to a customer in July.
Since the beginning of July 2019, all CRF, CXP, CXPM and McDEW condensers are no longer manufactured in Alonte but at the Rottenburg- Hailfingen site by BITZER directly. Direct-ex- pansion evaporators will be manufactured there as of January 2020.
Starting in 2018, BITZER’s Rottenburg-Hail- fingen site has been undergoing an expansion process, adding more production capacity and jobs, for HEXPV production.
The factory has already been producing BITZ- ER heat exchangers and pressure vessels since
1985. By the end of 2019, manufacturing of the for- mer Alfa Laval portfolio will be completely trans- ferred to the BITZER site in Southern Germany.
Mixed orders of compressors and condensers are already possible. Mixed orders of compres- sors and evaporators will be possible as of 2020.
BITZER has been producing condensers for fresh and seawater applications since the 1950s. The ac- quisition of Alfa Laval’s portfolio of shell and tube evaporators and condensers has turned BITZER into the largest independent manufacturer in the shell and tube heat exchanger market worldwide.
The company manufactures HEXPV products in its factories in Germany, the United States and Australia.
BITZER is represented globally with 65 sites in 34 countries with 3,500 employees.
Wilkinson resigns from AIRAH
AFTER ALMOST 18 years with the Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating (AIRAH), Phil Wilkinson, has resigned.
Wilkinson is seeking new opportunities in more people-oriented roles.
During his tenure Wilkinson has held several key positions including Technical Manager, Business Development Manager, CEO, and most recently as the Executive General Manager – Technical Services and Government Relations.
AIRAH CEO, Tony Gleeson, said that throughout his time with the Institute, Wilkin- son has been a credit to the organisation, its members and the HVACR industry.
“He has worked energetically to promote an
industry and issues he’s passionate about, mak- ing many friends along the way,” Gleeson said.
“He has at all times put AIRAH and our members first, helping to position us as a leader and innovator in the HVACR industry. Phil has a considerable skill set and admirable qualities that will be welcomed by many organisations.”
Wilkinson said the development of PRIME and AIRAH's Flammable Refrigerant Safety Guide both make the list of personal achievements.
“A very disparate group of industry, govern- ment and first-responder stakeholders that cared about safety came together for the good of the industry and its people, and created the guide,” he said.
