customers can continue to create efficiencies within their businesses,” Wood said.
Another highlight during the year was June 26, 2019, which marked the first official celebration of World Refrigeration Day.
Together with Metalflex and Reece HVAC, Ac- trol used its nationwide presence to create an Australia-wide celebration with instore events featuring carnival games, amazing food and even vacuum pump oil changes.
Actrol staff visited customers on job sites and in their offices to show their appreciation to eve- ryone that has supported the refrigeration and allied industries.
“It was a phenomenal day of recognition and one that will be in the Actrol calendar for years to come,” Wood said.
Actrol continues to support some of the world’s most renowned refrigeration brands such as the European giants, Cabero and Tecumseh.
Wood said the Cabero brand has moved from strength to strength within Australia.
“In early 2019 they expanded their market presence with the introduction of the new ACH series of evaporators,” she said.
“The ACH evaporators offer a German engi- neered unit which has new adaptability features to suit even the toughest of installations.
“Not to be outdone, Tecumseh recently re-
leased their new range of multi refrigerant ap- proved products. This range of multi refrigerant compressors, have enabled customers to future proof their work and help give their customers peace of mind.”
Looking ahead, Wood said one of the biggest events of 2020 will be the ARBS Exhibition which will be held in Melbourne in May.
“Actrol is poised to showcase how they contin-
ue to lead the way into the future of our industry, both with their products, refrigerant coverage and time saving services. We look forward to see- ing many of you on our stand next May,” she said.
“Actrol will continue to listen to their custom- ers, identify opportunities for growth and offer customised services no matter the job on hand.
“The future is now and Actrol is here to lead the way.”
Stand-alone design for fast pump down
NON-CONDENSABLE GASES (NCGS) pre- sent a challenge for industrial refrigeration systems. Since NGCs are unable to condense inside a condenser, they can have a serious impact on the operating conditions, energy efficiency, and life-
time of a system.
Air is the most abundant non-condensable
gas impacting industrial refrigeration systems, often entering during operation or service.
The Danfoss Intelligent Purging System (IPS)
is an easy-to-install, standalone, and self-con- tained purging unit designed to remove non- condensable gases from up to eight points in an industrial ammonia refrigeration system, result- ing in a more energy-efficient plant with lower power consumption.
The company’s industrial refrigeration mar- keting manager, Anders Olsen, said every as- pect of the IPS is designed to provide a simple, safe, and cost-effective installation and hassle- free service.
As a result, the IPS was constructed as a stand-alone design with as little as down to one mechanical connection, one electrical power connection, and one Modbus RTU con- nection. “The plug-and-play setup wizard ena- bles initialization in as little as 10 minutes and minimizes the risk of errors during commis- sioning,” he said.
The IPS self-diagnostic coupled with com- munication functionality enabled by Modbus RTU, provides instant remote operational and alarm status, reducing time spent on lo- cating errors. Furthermore, the standalone design allows for fast pump-down—often in less than 20 minutes—so servicing is quick and cost-effective.
The IPS features an automatic purging func- tion based on NCG buildup, as opposed to the purely time-based purging found in other mod- els, resulting in time- and energy-efficient purg- ing. The IPS continually monitors the differential pressure between the system refrigerant and purging refrigerant, resulting in higher efficien- cy, a lower concentration of residual ammonia and a reduced compressor load.
“THE PLUG AND PLAY SETUP WIZARD MINIMIZES THE RISK OF ERRORS DURING COMMISSIONING.”
The IPS runs self-diagnostics on an ongoing basis and will shut down should the need arise. Having only one integration point with the main system reduces risk in the event of issues with the main system. The IPS logs data on past purg- ing cycles which makes it easier to identify sys- tem issues, thereby ensuring the system is oper- ating effectively. Visit: IPS.danfoss.com
