           ENTRIES
THE 2020 PAINT & PANEL BODYSHOP AWARDS HAVE RECEIVED A RECORD NUMBER OF NOMINATIONS WITH OVER 300 BUSINESSES BEING NOMINATED OR SELF NOMINATING.
THE AIM OF THE AWARDS PROGRAM IS TO HIGHLIGHT
the many repair businesses that continue to raise in- dustry standards across a range of criteria. Judging will commence at the end of July. Paint & Panel wel- comes three new sponsors, Lowbake, Planning Plus and HAMR Coatings. Lowbake sponsors a new award for Best Corporate Shop. The awards strive to create a level playing field for judging. As such the different business models and financing of groups like AMA, Repairhub and Strategic Col- lision Repair Group need to compete in their own category as
dealer owned shops do.
Mark Williams from Lowbake Australia said: "Lowbake is
happy to sponsor the Best Corporate Shop award as it's a great opportunity to be involved with the Paint & Panel Awards. In this ever-evolving environment it is good to recognise every as- pect of the industry where businesses are raising standards and improving customer service.”
HAMR Coatings is an Australian automotive paint manu- facturer, founded by a spray painter, for spray painters and sponsors the 2020 Paint & Panel Young Achiever Award for under 21 year-olds.
HAMR is run by a young, entrepreneurial couple Rob and Tiffany Rashleigh who wanted to offer a more cost effective solution for small repair and restoration businesses. The prod- uct offering has been a great success and the business has grown rapidly.
Rob explained why HAMR Coatings is proud to be sponsor- ing this award for the Young Achiever.
"The young people coming through now will be the ones to shape the future of our industry. 15 years ago when I started my spray painting apprenticeship, we were told that the most you could hope to achieve was to be a sales rep, or a TAFE teacher. While these are fulfilling careers, we should be demonstrating to young men and women that with hard work anything is possible and that there are many other career opportunities.

Planning Plus will be sponsoring a new award for 2020 – the Training and Development Award to recognise businesses who invest in developing their team.
Planning Plus' Gavin McGahey said: “I am really pleased to be able to sponsor the Training & Development category of the Paint & Panel Bodyshop awards.
“This category really resonates with our company. We have a big focus around online training and education for our clients and even prospective clients. Sharing interactive tutorial webi- nars and guest speaker webinars through our social media channels which is our way of communicating information to the broader Industry.
"Development for us is also critical. How do we keep at the forefront given the rapid pace of technology changes? A question that we need to be asking ourselves on a regular basis. 2020 is a huge development year for us as we transition from a hugely suc- cessful desktop software model, which we now have in seven countries, to a state of the art Cloud version.
Helping repairers to fix more cars faster has always been our call to action offering solutions for more efficient workshop man- agement," he said.
The awards industry night of nights is still scheduled for 13 November in Melbourne, Covid19-restrictions permitting. Good luck to all the businesses taking part.
SUPPORTING SPONSORS DRINKS SPONSOR
work for a vehicle manufacturer or even, like myself, own your own paint company. Dream big," he said.
