in mindset that having a business coach had made and how having to be ac- countable was a really motivating factor. Finn realised a couple of years ago that everything in the business revolved around him and yet he had employed people who were capable of running things. Finn has read the Business Transformation story in Paint & Panel about East Coast Collision, was listening to the podcast and took part in a Paint & Panel webinar and he reached out to Max My Profit for coaching.
Steve Davies managed with two shops but when he opened the third he real-
ised he couldn’t be in three places at once and started being coached. They discussed the ways in which they had implemented efficiencies, engaged their staff and boosted their profit. They em- phasised what a difference it made working on the businesses and not in it and how difficult it had been to make that transition because it involved a sig- nificant change in daily behaviour.
As well as being more successful fi- nancially, their quality of life improved from not working as many hours and in Davies’ case virtually making himself redundant in the day to day running of the business. Finn now has the time to look for another shop location and ex- pand his business.
Just before afternoon tea Richard Dudley, CEO of MTAA and one of the day’s sponsors took to the stage to dis- cuss some of the legislation changes tak- ing place such as the mandatory data sharing law which will come into force in July 2022. Dudley also referred to the achievement of the unfair contract terms regulation which came into being on 5 April with further changes to come later in the year. He also talked about the sub- stantial changes to the insurance con- tracts act which includes tightening of the rules around cash settling. Dudley said that as soon as the data sharing leg- islation is passed MTAA will swing into action to lobby for the Code of Conduct becoming federally mandated and that
