ENGIE targets industrial heating market
ENGIE REFRIGERATION HAS strength- ened its position in the field of heat pumps acquiring the CO2 high temperature heat pump business from the insolvency assets of Hafner-Muschler Kälte- und Klimatechnik last month.
This includes all patents as well as rights to all trademarks and names. The activities previous- ly performed for Dürr thermea GmbH at the Ot- tendorf-Okrilla site in Dresden comprise the construction, production, sale and servicing of CO2-based heat pumps and compressed-air re- frigeration dryers.
All employees will be kept on and integrated into the ENGIE Refrig- eration organisation. They will become a new branch of ENGIE Refrigeration.
With this acqui-
sition, ENGIE Re-
frigeration is expand-
ing its product and service
portfolio in the fields of high temper-
ature heat pumps and drying technology with CO2 technology and further strength- ening its position in the field of natural re- frigerants. By using R744 refrigerant, it is possible to achieve temperatures of up to 110 degrees Celsius. This opens up applica- tions in the fields of heating, heat supply in communal and industrial heating networks, and drying technology.
The machines that have already been sold under the thermea brand around the world will be looked after by the international ENGIE Re- frigeration service network in future.
ENGIE CEO, Jochen Hornung, said the com- pany has a strong base to specialise in energy efficient refrigeration and heat recovery.
“The high temperature heat pumps are an ex- cellent addition to our existing product and service portfolio,” he said.
“By using CO2, a natural refrigerant, we will also be creating a strong starting point for fur- ther growth – in Germany and abroad.

pumps therefore fit perfectly into the ENGIE Refrigeration business strategy.”
According to the latest report from Tech- navio Research, the global heat pump market is forecast to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 8.24 per cent from 2018 to 2022.
To calculate the market size, the report con- siders the revenue generated from the sales of heat pump. ✺

HVAC ENGINEERING COMPANY, the SPX Cor- poration has announced plans to exit the heat trans- fer business within its engineered solutions segment.
As part of the exit, SPX has sold its Yuba and Ecolaire brands and the technology of its heat transfer business to Godrej & Boyce Manufactur- ing Co Ltd, a private industrial conglomerate based in India.
SPX anticipates winding down its remaining heat transfer operations by the end of Q1 2019.
SPX president and CEO, Gene Lowe, said the
move completes the reshaping of its Engineered Solutions segment.
“We anticipate seeing a return to revenue growth in this segment in 2019,” Lowe added.
