The HP Indigo 12000 HD digital press exceeds offset quality, says Phil Rennell.
“The Smart Stacker will take a B2- sized sheet, cut it four times in one direction and seven cuts in the other direction, remove blank sheets, and stack everything into a book block ready to go straight onto the perfect binder,” he says.
From the Smart Stacker, a Sawyer robot will carry the book blocks to
a Horizon BQ-480 full-clamp perfect binder.
“The BQ-480 will allow the customer to use either EVA or
PUR glue. It is fully automatic and touchscreen controlled, with built-in spine scoring and hinge scoring as well,” says Robinson.
Another Horizon highlight will be the Stitchliner Mark III, which will run a Horizon HOF-400 feeder unit with a CF-400 cover feeder, says Robinson.
“That will allow the customers to do an A4 landscape booklet which is stitched, folded, and three-way trimmed in one pass. It’ll take both digital and traditional offset work,” he says.
Other finishing equipment on stand will include the Horizon RD-4055 die-cut system; Horizon
SmartSlitter sheet cutter and creaser; Horizon CRF-362
creaser and folder; Horizon AFC-566 computerised cross folder; Horizon APC-610 hydraulic
paper cutter; and Foliant Mercury 400SF laminator. Cron’s thermal CTP will also feature. 21
goes all in on automation
HP Indigo will be a prominent feature on stand E28, with digital presses including the
Indigo 7900 in-line with a Horizon booklet-maker; the Indigo WS6900 label press complemented by an ABG Digicon finishing line; and, most prominently, the HP Indigo 12000 HD, which will be shown
for the first time in Australia according to Phil Rennell, sales and marketing director at Currie Group.
“The highlight of the HP Indigo 12000 HD digital press is that people will see the new high- definition image quality, the new FM screening – it’s the highest-quality digital printing press that there is,” he says. “Using the breakthrough
high-definition imaging system, the press delivers the smoothest and sharpest prints in the industry, exceeding offset quality.”
The setup also features the Horizon Smart Stacker, which will be interfaced with the HP Indigo 12000 HD on the stand.
“We’re continuing our theme
of automation, integrating our machine with the Smart Stacker and perfect binder as a fully- automated workflow, but also removing as many touchpoints as we can from the operation,”
says Rennell.
According to Bernie Robinson, managing director at Currie Group, the Smart Stacker is another key step in the fully-automated workflow.
