 PLENTY OF REASONS
                    TO MOONWALK
         AS WELL AS PRECISE, SET-AND-FORGET,
automated mixing, PPG’s MoonWalk of- fers flexible and stress-free operations that minimises paint usage, while pro- jecting a hi-tech image.
Some might argue that a good painter can do the basic mixing tasks performed by PPG’s MoonWalk colour dispenser. However, MoonWalk does it with ex- treme precision — day in, day out — without ever getting stressed, tired or, crucially, making mistakes. As well as freeing up the painters to do other pro- ductive tasks, the incredible colour mix accuracy provides a host of advantages. Not only does it minimise potential is- sues and reworks caused by inaccurate hand mixes, it also minimises wastage. The tinter bottles are installed upside down in the MoonWalk unit so that eve- ry drop of product gets used. If only a tiny amount of a colour is needed, Moon- Walk has no problem in accurately mix- ing volumes that a human wouldn’t even consider. Rather than mixing a little ex- tra ‘just in case’, painters can actually be a little more aggressive with the volume they mix. For example, if you feel you can get away with, say, 250ml for a bumper, simply mix that volume and, if you find you need a little more, just set MoonWalk to mix, say, another 50ml to complete the job.
IMPRESSIVE TECHNOLOGY
There is no doubt MoonWalk projects a hi-tech image. For that reason, many customers have their MoonWalk on dis- play for their customers to see and even get involved with by pressing the button to mix the colour for their vehicle.
The other factor to consider is its hi-tech appeal to painters, particularly younger tradespeople who tend to be more inter- ested in new technology. In a tough mar- ket to find and retain skilled staff, a MoonWalk could well tip the scales in favour of your business.
RETURN ON INVESTMENT (ROI)
When you take into account the time it frees up for painters, the colour mixing accuracy and the minimisation of wast- age and reworks, it’s estimated that MoonWalk can begin providing a re- turn-on-investment in between 1.5 and 2.5 years, depending on the size of the collision centre.
When you factor in the potential to take advantage of the Australian govern- ment’s instant asset write off, it could be even quicker. In order to calculate the ROI for an individual repairer, PPG’s MVP Business Solutions team has creat- ed a MoonWalk benefit calculator which makes it easy to input specific data for your business.
ADVANCED SOLUTION
Developed by PPG’s Digital Customer Experience team in Europe, MoonWalk is an extremely cool piece of kit. Indeed, MoonWalk has proven so popular, the 1000th unit globally was recently in- stalled. Deliberately packaged to fit neatly into a typical paint mixing room, it contains everything needed. This in- cludes a dispensing rack, along with storage for 80 tinters, a RAPIDMATCH GO spectrophotometer, a set of ultra-ac- curate scales, a built-in computer loaded with PAINTMANAGER XI and a label printer. Best of all, after downloading a spectro reading and selecting the appro- priate colour formulation, it takes just a single ‘click’ to set MoonWalk in motion to create a ready-to-spray mix.

                                                            LOWBAKE HAS THE CURE
AS WELL AS LOWBAKE’S WELL KNOWN IR
gas and UV in-booth arch, the company also offers a compre- hensive range of curing options for use outside the booth.
There’s the mobile single head dual cure unit which has both IR and UV-A LED curing capabilities. For larger area coverage you can opt for a twin head dual curing unit with IR and
UV-A LED which is also fully mobile. You can also ask Lowbake for custom solutions such as rail systems for prepa- ration bays. For smaller repairs there’s a handheld UV-A LED light with a built-in timer that’s also great for those hard to reach areas.
