MILLIE KEATING OF HANWHA DEFENSE AUSTRALIA
Millie Keating is the Head of Industrial Development for Hanwha Defense Australia, responsible for building Hanwha’s Australian supply chain and supporting development of a competitive, self-reliance industrial base. Prior to joining Hanwha, Millie was an Associate Director at KPMG, specialising in Defence and defence industry, advising Government Departments, commercial businesses and universities in relation to their Defence sector interests and programs; through to development of Defence industrial strategy and policy.
 ALISON MCMEEKIN OF ASC
After 12 years as a journalist, Alison relished her time at the Department of Defence.
However in late 2016, when she and her husband decided to move from Canberra to Adelaide with
their two young children, Alison had to give up her role.
Alison joined SA Health, where she remained – until BAE Systems Australia was down-selected in
2018 to deliver the $35 billion Hunter Class Frigate Program.
On spec, she emailed Head of Communications Chandran Vigneswaran and asked for a job. She
was hired to work in the Hunter program’s newly-established communications team. For Alison, it was a second homecoming.
 AMY MCDONALD OF ASC
After nearly a decade in the naval shipbuilding industry Amy understands the importance of defence industry as a fundamental input into capability and as an economic multiplier providing jobs for Australians and opportunities for Australian businesses.
As ASC Shipbuilding’s Communications Manager, Amy’s mission is to ensure employees are engaged and to deeply understand the issues facing the industry’s leaders, supporting them with effective integrated communication strategies and plain language narratives.
 PRUE RHODES OF DOWNER DEFENCE SYSTEMS
Prue’s expertise in developing simple compelling narratives to communicate Army’s capability requirements to Government has resulted in 10 Major project approvals in 2019 resulting in the release of $3,894.44 million from the Integrated Investment Program. This has resulted in capability improvements to the Australian Defence Force in areas such as force protection, artillery, soldier combat, battlefield aviation, communications and special operations.
 MAJOR JILLIAN JOYCE OF AUSTRALIAN ARMY
Major Jillian Joyce joined the Army in 2008 as a Public Affairs Officer in the Australian Army Public Relations Service. She has enjoyed postings to Training Command -Army, Headquarters Forces Command, Military Strategic Commitments, 1st Joint Public Affairs Unit and is currently the Public Affairs Officer and Headquarters 3 Brigade. Major Joyce was the sole Defence Public Affairs member for the response to the 2019 Townsville flood - one of the worst natural disasters to ever impact the region. Her advice, forethought and actions had a profound and positive strategic affect for Army and the ADF.
 MIRANDA CARTER OF THE WHISKEY PROJECT
Miranda’s journey with The Whiskey Project commenced in early-2019, brought onboard from the outset to assist the company’s founders in establishing brand identity and to develop a strategic integrated marketing communications plan. Operating under a compressed timeframe with an ambitious headmark and in an unfamiliar Defence industry, Miranda single-handedly managed the coordination of the full spectrum of marketing and communications activities required to take The Whiskey Project brand from inception to a full-scale product launch and unveiling at Pacific2019
