IF THERE WAS AN AWARD FOR MOST IMPROVED THEN OWNER
Julie Pettett Numanoglu wins. We first visited the shop around three years ago when she had just taken over the business from her father. What a radical clean up has taken place. The Volvo-badged shop has been embracing lean methodology working with paint supplier PPG. The place is ultra clean and tidy including all the storage and consuma- bles cupboards. There’s a new prep bay and evidence of great processes in every part of the business. Next on the list is improving the lighting in the panel shop and of course the list goes on. Also nice to see the third generation, her son, working in the business too.
FABULOUS AT 50 DESCRIBES EMU SMASH REPAIR. CLEAN, TIDY,
well organised and fitted out with top notch equipment. This focussed team is deeply entrenched in the community and flat out with work. The second generation is flourishing in this New South Wales shop at the base of the Blue Mountains, and is bringing on the next generation too, with a number of apprentices on staff.
KELLEY BODYWORKS IN CANBERRA IS A SUPER-
productive shop with efficient processes and a wel- coming customer service area and they were just pipped at the post by G&S Prestige Panelbeaters.
GAWLER BODYWORKS IN
South Australia has a stunning exterior and business is booming.
If we were going to give constructive criti- cism, the shop has grown so fast with extra sheds added as needed, the lay- out could do with a re- think. A separate area for restoration would also speed up production.
There is a sister shop too, and both are going great guns.
