BOKA Powell is a leader in mass timber design in Texas. As part of a developer’s
pitch for a major corporate headquarters, BOKA Powell prepared a mass timber
option that incorporates dowel-laminated timber columns, beams, and deck to
introduce a unique warmth to the office building’s aesthetic. Outside, wood is
exposed, allowing the remarkable structural system to show through large panes
of glass. Inside, the beauty of the wood columns and beams and the exposed
wood ceilings is highlighted through the use of under-floor air distribution, which
allows for an uncluttered ceiling and a healthier indoor environment.
