                                                     Ir. Joko Widodo

               Joko Widodo (also known as Jokowi)  was born on 21
               June. He is an Indonesian businessman, politician, and
               government  official.  Most  of  Jokowi's  boyhood  was
               spent in illegally constructed shacks near the city's Solo
               River, prone to flooding. His father was a street vendor
               of  wood.  Jokowi  put  forth  effort  in  school  and  was
               accepted  to  Yogyakarta's  Gadjah  Mada  University,
               where  he  earned  a  degree  in  forestry  engineering  in
               1 985.  He  worked  at  a  state-owned  pulp  mill  in Aceh  for  several  years  before  starting  his
               furniture  factory in  Surakarta.  He  had  established  himself  as  a  highly successful  furniture
               exporter by 2002.  He was the  Mayor of Surakarta (Solo) from 28  July 2005 to  1 October
               2 012,  accompanied  by F.X.  Hadi Rudyatmo  as deputy mayor.  He  was governor of Jakarta
               from 2012 to 2014 and president of Indonesia from 2014 to the present. He became the first
               Indonesian  president  without  military  experience  or  ties  to  one  of  the  nation's  renowned
               political  families.  Jokowi  gained  international  recognition  for  his  populist  campaigning
               tactics and anti-corruption program. Many commentators believed that his electoral victory
               heralded the start of a new, more democratic period in Indonesian politics.
