Vocabulary Practice

                    Crime: an action or omission that constitutes an offence that may be prosecuted by the
                    state and is punishable by law.
                    Victim: a  person  harmed,  injured,  or killed  due  to  a  crime,  accident,  or other  event  or
                    action.
                    Witness: a person who sees an event, typically a crime or accident, take place.
                    Jury: a body of people (typically twelve in number) sworn to give a verdict in a legal case
                    based on evidence submitted to them in court.
                    Fine: punish (someone) by making them pay a sum of money, typically as a penalty for
                    breaking the law
                    Traffic violation: breaching a traffic law.
                    Capital punishment: receiving the death penalty
                    Criminal: someone who commits a serious crime or violates the law
                    Sentence:  the punishment assigned to a defendant found guilty by a court or fixed by law
                    for a particular offence.
                    Guilty: culpable of or responsible for specified wrongdoing.

                    Rehabilitate: restore  (someone)  to  health  or  normal  life  by  training  and  therapy  after
                    imprisonment, addiction, or illness.
                    Felony: a crime considered  more  serious than a  misdemeanour  and is often punished  by a
                    sentence of more than one year or death.
                    Bail: the temporary release of an accused person awaiting trial, sometimes on condition
                    that a sum of money is lodged to guarantee their appearance in court.
                    Settlement: an official agreement intended to resolve a dispute or conflict.
                    Sue: institute legal proceedings against (a person or institution), typically for redress.
                    Custody: (1)  the  protective  care  or  guardianship  of  someone  or  something;  (2)
                    imprisonment
                    Caseload: The number of cases in which the lawyer or the judge is concerned at one time.
                    Trial: the entire process of evaluating evidence and deciding in a court of law.
