Dr. Beristain attended medical school and completed his
internship and residency at the University of the Basque
Country, Spain. He then completed a residency in neurology Dr. Xabier Beristain
at Indiana University in Indianapolis where he later served as
Chief Resident. He also completed a fellowship in movement disorders at Indiana
University.
Dr. Beristain’s academic and hospital appointments include assistant professor in the
Department of Neurology and attending physician at Indiana University Medical Center,
attending physician at Saint Vincent Hospital and Community East and North Hospitals
in Indianapolis, attending physician at Maine General Hospital in Augusta, and associate
professor for the Department of Neurology at Stritch School of Medicine, Loyola
University Health Systems in Maywood, Illinois.
Miami Cancer Institute Names
Murugesan Manoharan, M.D., Chief
of Urologic Oncology Surgery
Murugesan Manoharan, M.D., has joined the team of
renowned cancer care experts with Miami Cancer Institute at
Baptist Health South Florida. Dr. Manoharan, or simply
“Mano” as he’s often referred, will serve as the Institute’s Chief
of Urologic Oncologic Surgery and Director of Robotic
Urologic Surgery. Dr. Murugesan
Prior to joining Miami Cancer Institute, Dr. Manoharan Manoharan
practiced urology at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center,
where he served as one of the site disease group leaders for genitourinary cancers. He
also practiced urology at Jackson Memorial Hospital and at the Veterans Affairs Medical
Center in Miami.
Dr. Manoharan was a tenured professor of urology and served as the Director of the
Urologic Oncology Fellowship program at the University Of Miami Miller School Of
Medicine, having received the Best Urology Teacher of the Year Award on multiple occa-
sions.
