Recognizes Memorial’s Care, Honors Community Leaders at 8th Annual
Innovation, and Workplace Women of Distinction & Caring Luncheon
Hollywood-based Memorial Healthcare System was
recently honored with three significant awards by the
Florida Hospital Association at its annual meeting:
“Caregiver of the Year,” “Innovation of the Year in Patient
Care,” and “Best Hospital Workplace.”

of the Adaptive Sports & Recreation program at Memorial Regional Hospital South,
Shipman positively impacted more than 500 physically disabled patients in 2016 by facil-
itating their participation in hand cycling, disc golf, adaptive bowling, fishing, and other
activities. The Memorial Sharks, a wheelchair basketball team he organized, finished sec-
ond in the nation in recent competition. Shipman continues to grow the program
through a variety of efforts.

St. Mary’s Medical Center Receives Stroke Care
Award for Best Door to Needle Time
St. Mary’s Medical Center, a member of the Tenet Advance Neuroscience Network
(ANN), is recognized by the Florida Puerto Rico Collaboration to Reduce Stroke
Disparities (FL-PR CReSD) with the organization’s “Best Performing Door to Needle
Time in 2016” award.
St. Mary’s and the other hospitals that make up the ANN are participating in the
American Heart Association “Get with the Guideline” Stroke registry to improve stroke
care. St. Mary’s has earned the AHA Target Stroke Elite Plus honor roll, the highest pos-
sible designation, for the past two years.
According to the FL-PR CReSD, St. Mary’s has an average door to needle time of 28
minutes, which is ranking them as second place among all participating Florida of all par-
ticipating hospitals.
