One day he said to
himself, “If I make
friends with Sunil,
everybody will begin to talk
to me and like me. But it is
difficult for me to be good
like Sunil. So, I shall try
to make him like me.”
Rajesh started talking to
Sunil; borrowed his books and
also called him over to his
place. Sunil did not see any
harm in making friends
with this bad boy.
Gradually, Sunil picked
up Rajesh’s bad habits.
He also began to avoid games, and stopped doing his homework. He fought
with other boys and also spoke rudely to his teachers. Now the other good
boys who were his friends before, began to avoid him. Sunil was sad, but could
not give up his bad habits. He found it easier to be bad than to be good.
Sunil’s parents were at a loss to understand how their good son had changed
so much. Then, they realised that Rajesh was responsible for this. For many
days, they watched the two boys together. They knew for certain that their son
would become good again only if he left Rajesh’s bad company. They made the
boy realise this. They also made him understand why all his good friends had left
him, and his teachers no longer praised him.
Sunil, being a sensible boy, took his parents’ advice. He knew that Rajesh had
a very bad influence on him, and had caused great harm to his soul. He told
Rajesh that he would part company with him unless he changed for the better.
