Uma, Amit and Smitha sat on the rug at Dr Nair's feet. He

started telling them a story.

Rohit and his wife lived next to a forest. They had a

small baby boy.

One day Rohit and his wife went to the forest to

get honey. They put the baby down on the soft

grass under a tree. When they were not

looking, Mrs Clever Fox took the baby away.

“My cubs can play with the man-cub,” she

said.

But Minnie, the monkey, saw the baby and

said, “I want to play with the man-cub.”

Then Mr Jumbo, the elephant, said, “I want

to play with the man-cub.”

Then all the other animals shouted, “We want to play with the man-cub too.”

Mrs Bhaloo, the bear, was afraid, “Rohit will find us and

punish us.”

Mrs Fox said, “Silly, Rohit cannot find

us. So, whoever answers my questions

correctly can play with the man-cub.

Minnie, your turn first. Who can run

faster than I can?”
