The need of air.

Air is present everywhere. We cannot see or touch it, but we can feel it
when it blows. It is necessary for all living things. It helps us to breathe and

remain alive.

Fish breathe through their gills. They take in the air present in water.

Properties of Air

Living things need air : Plants and animals need

air to breathe.
Air takes up space : Take a balloon. Blow air into

it. What happens?

It becomes round and bigger. The air that we blow, fills up the balloon.
Air takes up the space inside the balloon and balloon gets a shape.

Air has weight : Take two identical balloons.
Fill air only in one balloon. Put both the balloons
on a balance. You will see the balloon with air is

heavier.
