Our History
Robert E. Brueggemann started working for Mr. Harry Taylor in 1946 after being discharged from the army and continued to do so for 15 years. In 1958, Mr. Taylor purchased a location on Larkfield Road for a new funeral home but 3 years later decided to sell it. Robert had wanted to go out on his own so he purchased the one chapel funeral home from Mr. Taylor. The Brueggemann Funeral Home was established in 1961. Robert had the foresight to see that the East Northport community would be growing. He knew after a period of time that it would be necessary to expand the funeral home and did so twice to meet the community’s need, once in 1964 and again in 1974. Robert retired from the funeral home in 1991 but continued to work and maintained his funeral directors license until his passing on June 27, 2003. Douglas Brueggemann (Robert’s son) and Paul F. Papa took over the funeral home in 1991 and named it the Brueggemann Funeral Home of East Northport, Inc. Renovations were made again to the facilities on the lobbies in 2003 and the chapels in 2013.
