Examples of Exercises for Lymphedema

Breathing: sitting, breathe with left hand on belly,
right hand on chest. If only right hand moves,
breathing is too shallow. Good breathing uses
diaphragm (divider between chest and belly).

1. To develop this, focus on left hand

(and belly) moving out on inhale
and in on exhale.
2. Turn head slowly to look over left
shoulder then turn to look.
3. With arms out to
2 side, make small
forward circles
(5 count); change
direction (5 count).
Repeat in each
direction 5 counts,
increasing circles as
much as possible.
3 One set is 20 counts
of small and large
circles.
