CEL has also provided TEL tools as well as software to support the
teaching efforts of the academic staff. The COVID-19 pandemic and
the associated movement control order, thrust the CEL to the
forefront in TEL. Many online training sessions were organised in order
to interact with the lecturers to identify their specific limitations and
training needs in a situation which compelled them to adopt TEL. This
led to the development of the online website to support the
community of practitioners at UMS. CEL has also been a key driver in
developing the online examination system in collaboration with the
Academic Services Division (BPA) and the Department of Information
Technology & Communication (JTMK).
CEL has also been actively involved at the national and international
level by participating in the development of the inclusive open
educational resources policy in collaboration with UNESCO, the
Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysian e-Learning Council for Public
Universities (MEIPTA) and the Malaysian Centre for e-Learning
(MyCeL). CEL has mentored academic staff in the area of TEL and
these academic staff have achieved excellence as demonstrated
by the winning of international awards.
“I congratulate the Center for e-Learning on
their achievements and look forward to their
continuing support and development of the
UMS TEL ecosystem.”
