BLENDED LEARNING

The Centre for Learning (CEL),
University Malaysia Sabah has
created and contribute blended
learning through our SMART2UMS,
Massive Open Online Courses
(MOOCs) the Open Educational
Resources (OER Institutional
Repository) by academic staffs
of UMS.
Blended learning has been introduced to
create holistic, entrepreneurial and
balanced graduates, a nation of lifelong
learners, globalized online learning and the
transformation of higher education delivery
as stated in the Malaysia Education Blueprint
2015-2025 (Higher Education). The
introduction of blended learning is a purpose
to encourage the uses of it, such as in
SMART2UMS learning platform, Massive
Open Online Courses (MOOCs), and OER repository among lecturers and
students. CEL UMS also aims to ensure development, management and
quality assurance of the blended learning and online learning platforms by
doing their roadshow. Blended learning encourages personalization of the
eLearning experience by combining the best aspects of in-person teaching
with technology-based eLearning methods. CEL UMS has built consensus with
lectures and staff as to why a blended learning approach is beneficial to
them and their students before implementing blended learning.
