❑Teaching Asking a trigger questions
Asking a trigger questions
Task 1
• Before reading the reading text, the teacher asks students to read the
questions above the text, namely: Why do you think the Heroes Day took
that special date to commemorate our heroes' sacrifice?.
• After that, the students brainstormed about why November 10 is used as
the date to commemorate Heroes' Day.
• After a brief discussion, the teacher asks the students to read the
reading text quickly and carefully (skimming) to find/match the answers
to the questions above. Is it the same as their opinion? When doing this,
students do a reading activity with a purpose.
• The teacher also reminds students to remember the meaning of new
vocabulary in the readings that have been given in the vocabulary
builder.
• Students share their opinions briefly.
Task 2
• The teacher asks students to read comprehension questions and discuss
together about questions they do not understand.
• After that, students read the text intensively while trying to find answers
to questions.
• Students then discuss the answers to the questions. In this activity the
teacher can ask students to work in groups of four. Number each
member of the group with the number 1 to 4. Thus every S in the class
has been numbered. Their number may be 1, or 2, or 3, or 4
Discuss answers to questions.
• At the time of sharing, the teacher just calls a certain number to answer.
For example, number two(s) what is your opinion? Then all those
numbered 2 raised their hands and the teacher just had to choose
between these students numbered 2. (Group work model numbered
head together).
