Places to See 27
The Sugarloaf Heritage Council in partnership with ASU-Heber Springs
has completed four trails. Whether you choose a sunrise, a sunset, or a
sunny day, the view is sure to please you at the top of Sugarloaf Mountain.
It’s well worth the climb.
• Summit Trail is .66 miles round trip leads to the base of the summit.
This trail is the most difficult to negotiate because it is steep and slippery.
There are rest areas along the way.
• Tonawanda Base Trail is 1.3 miles around the base of the mountain. It
is of moderate difficulty and occasional uneven footing. Benches have been
installed along the way.
• Hidden Pond Trail is relatively flat and paved, and an easy .25 miles,
with good footing. There is also a 90 foot wooden bridge with seating along
the way and picnic table near the pond. This trail is handicap accessible.
• Wildlife Trail is 1 mile in the bottom area west of Sugarloaf Mountain.
This trail will join the proposed 9 mile Sulphur Creek Trail heading west into
Heber Springs. Sulphur Creek Trail is a project of Greers Ferry Lake Trails
Council and the City of Heber Springs.
