48 Cleburne County
Where the Mountains Meet the Lake and River
Cleburne County is the youngest of the
75 counties in the State of Arkansas.
Established in 1883, it presently has a
population of 25,970. The Cleburne
County Courthouse, located on the
square in the heart of Heber Springs,
is on the National Register of Historic
Places. It continues to serve as the
center for governmental office in the Photo courtesy of Heber Springs Area Chamber of Commerce
community. The architecturally significant, two-story brick structure is of
Jeffersonian Revival Style. The Cleburne County Community Service
Program was started in May of 2013. This Program benefits Cleburne
County in many ways. From helping non-profits to clearing debris to
picking up litter, the Cleburne County Community Service Program makes
a difference. Since it began 11,500 bags of litter have been collected. With
the help of this program, we feel like our County Roads and Highways are
some of the cleanest in the State. Come visit us, you will want to come back!
The Mary I. Wold Cleburne County Library, located on West Main Street,
offers a wide array of modern library services with special focus on chil-
dren’s programming, an extensive e-library, complimentary access to com-
puters and other technology. The Cleburne County Historical Society,
Research Library and Museum is located in the historic Post Office Building
on East Main Street. Please refer to Quick Reference on page 56 & 57 for a
