A TRUE CHRISTIAN
T he name Christian means many things to many people. Biblically a Christian is one who allies
himself to Christ, a follower of Jesus. The genesis of the word emanated from Antioch a name
coined by the folks of the region and which was aimed at pocking fun at Christ's followers.
They were paying the price for being Christlike in conduct, activity and speech. However, this bunch
of Christians were 100% genuine that is there were truly born again believers.
Time nonetheless eroded the essence of the meaning of believer and it settled somewhere in the
region of Christian by means of church attendance. Others call themselves believers’ coz they hail
from Christian nations.
Or its coz they help the destitute folks or they think they’re just a bunch of nice people. The
problem with these sentiments is that they hold no water coz one is not a believer by nice works.
Bible says that Christians are born from above, men who are set apart and whom have put their
faith and trust in the lord, (John 3:3,7; Titus 3:5; 1 Pet. 1:23; Eph. 2:8)

Vs 3 In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is
born again"
Vs 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, "You must be born again"

us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
