Academy
For students wanting piano, guitar, orchestral or concert band instruments as well as music
theory. Music Academy is 90 minute weekly session. This works particularly well for students
who want to avoid the stress of missing out normal classes during school hours, and have
some fun playing in an ensemble that lends itself well to joining the orchestra or concert band
later on.
Academy takes place on Wednesdays and Fridays 3.30pm - 5pm. Each session includes a
30 minute practical lesson, 30 minute theory, and 30 minute ensemble playing. All academy
classes are in small groups of 4 - 6, and we ask all enrolled academy students to commit for
one year of music lessons to maximise learning efficiency.
The combination of practical and theoretical learning will be most beneficial, and we expect
students to become part of the orchestra or concert band after one year of Music Academy.
We encourage students to sit a theory or practical exam at the end of the year. Academy
Concerts held at the end of each Term.
Costs: $500 annual fee for 2016 (can vary)
Rehearsals: Wednesdays and Fridays at 3.30 – 5pm, Baradene Music Department.
