"I like to listen. I have learned a great deal from listening
carefully. Most people never listen". - Ernest Hemingway
1. Introduction
Human beings develop their listening skills several weeks
before birth when predominant sounds can induce relevant
effects over the fetus' behavior that may last for at least a week.
Newborn infants are able to perceive and isolate sounds clearly
showing a developed sense of hearing, and although newborns
have rudimentary auditory abilities, their aural system is not
completely developed.
The purpose of this collection is to provide theoratical
foundation of the research that has been done in the field of the
development of listening skills within the English Language
Teaching context.
