P. 12
Do we claim invincibility and superiority
Beyond all reason and sensibility?
Greed hurries us fast along life’s track,
Leaving no time to breathe.
But Irma,
She urges us to swiftly move
Beyond our constrictions of comfort
Into her unpredictable storm.
We all know by now the gifts
Her rampage left behind.
We count our blessings
As she watches now
Through her meadow of gold in the sky.
Sharp like a ninja sword,
She holds herself steady,
Lest we make another move
To desecrate the mother.
Waiting to be reborn
And named anew,
To pierce our arrogance
With her hurricane heart.
Her tornado soul upheaving egos,
Setting our simple minds straight
With her blazing switch of water and wind.
