TIPPING GUIDELINES – beyond the prepaid gratuities
When cruising with Royal Caribbean, it's good to be aware of the recommended tipping guidelines.
Here’s a general tipping list for your cruise:
Daily Service Charges
• Standard Gratuity (your prepaid gratuities): Approximately $14.50 per day per guest for
those staying in standard accommodations, and $17.50 for suite guests. This covers dining
room staff, bar staff, and housekeeping.
Room Steward
• A $20.00 on the second day will get you a lot of good service and another $20.00 near the end
of the cruise if the first $20 helped with service
Specialty Dining
• Specialty Restaurants: A tip of around 18% is usually added to the bill. If not included,
consider tipping $5 to $10 per person, depending on the service.
Bars and Lounges
• Drink Service: Tips are often included in the drink prices, but you can round up or add an
extra dollar or two for exceptional service. It makes a difference in the service!
Spa and Salon Services
• Spa Treatments: A gratuity of 18% is typically added to the service bill. If not, consider tipping
accordingly based on the service quality. If gratuity is added, ignore additional tip.
Shore Excursions
• Guides and Drivers: It’s customary to tip $5 to $10 per person for full-day excursions, and $2
to $5 for half-day tours.
Room Service
• In-Room Dining: A tip of $1 to $5 is appreciated, especially if you receive exceptional service.
This makes a big difference even though they charge a flat fee of $7.95 and add 18% gratuity
to the bill. The extra $1-$5 makes a big difference in the service you get – say you always
want grape jelly – not strawberry – tell your server and with that little tip he/she will remember
for you.
Other Staff
• Concierge and Butler (in suites): Consider tipping around $20 to $30 per day for exceptional
service.
These amounts can vary based on your experience and personal preferences, so feel free to adjust
accordingly!
