What are the benefits of speech therapy for ASD?
Speech therapy can improve overall communication. This

Specific goals of speech therapy include helping the
individual with autism:
1.Articulate words appropriately
2.Communicate both verbally and nonverbally
3.Comprehend verbal and nonverbal
communication, understanding others'
intentions in a range of settings
4.Initiate communication without prompting from
others
5.Know the appropriate time and place to
communicate something; for example, when to
say "good morning"
6.Develop conversational skills
7.Exchange ideas
8.Communicate in ways to develop relationships
9.Enjoy communicating, playing, and interacting
with peers
10.Learn self-regulation
