Neel: It was good, baba. I tried my best in maths. I think I might win second place, but at
        least I tried my best.

Baba: Yes, son. Now let’s go home and you can take a rest, you deserve it.

Headmaster: Before you go to your home Neel, I will come to your house with either good
        or bad news.

Narrator 3: For once, words were not enough. The next day, Gupta’s ex-foreman came to
Baba for help with his paddy fields. Baba agreed and also gave him his sundari stick he
made which was much stronger and better than the one he had before which baba had
smashed the previous night while saving the baby cub.

Narrator 4: The next day, when Baba had gone to help the foreman with the paddy
fields, the Headmaster came, panting and sweating. He asked if he could get a glass of
water and sat down. Ma began to fan him. Neel’s heart skipped a beat, the Headmaster
had said he would bring good or bad news.

Narrator 2: Did the headmaster have good news or bad? What do you think?

Rupa: Good morning, Headmaster! I see that you came in a hurry, Go bring a chair for
        headmaster, Neel.

Narrator 1: Neel brought the chair and the headmaster smiled, and sat down at the chair
that Baba had made using his carpentry skills.

Headmaster: Your brother did welI, Rupa, I must say. Your son scored higher than any

other kid in Bangla and English.

Neel: And, sir, what about maths? How much did I score?

Headmaster: Well, I am very impressed with you, son, as you scored well in maths. Just
        high enough.

        Neel: High enough for what?

Headmaster: Just enough to win the scholarship, Neel!

Ma: Oh my god, this is such an exciting day! Call your father fast, Neel! He will be so
proud of you! Oh, may god always bless us .

Rupa: Oh, I am so proud of you Neel, you did your best, and now look, you have won the
        scholarship!

Narrator 2: Neel himself was so happy and ran out of his house and into the dock to find
where Baba was tying his boat. As soon as he spotted Baba, he shouted in excitement:
Neel: Baba, Baba! I won! I won the scholarship!

Baba: That's my son! I am so proud of you! I knew you would win.
