Deputy Head of School
Director of University Guidance and Counselling Ms. Jennifer Adriaanse, BA, MSc (Ed)
Ms. Adriaanse’s national and international experiences bring
a diverse educational leadership direction to the Neuchâtel setting, and her talent and passion for Guidance and University Placement make her perfectly suited for her roles at NJC. Ms. Adriaanse feels privileged to play a role at this critical stage for NJC students who are making plans for their post-secondary destinations and futures. Her guiding principle is to use her expertise to assist students in making university decisions that are best suited to their talents and interests—all while inspiring them to consider new possibilities. She is also committed to keeping communication lines open between students, families and NJC as the exciting university placement process unfolds.
This year, I was able to develop a more spontaneous style with Mme. Weibel and was encouraged to take the AP art course in May. I pushed myself to create twenty- four individual works in eight months, I experimented with a variety of mediums, and I explored different styles of composition. And due to the outstanding programs offered at this school, I was able to achieve new levels, personally, intellectually, and artistically—to which I credit my acceptance to my top choice university. Carolyn Brambilla ’18, Parsons School of Design, Fashion Design
Going into my first guidance meeting with Ms. Adriaanse, I was pretty unsure of where I would end up. I came out of that meeting with five schools, a field of study, and confidence in my future that I had never had before. I can’t even begin to describe how important this guidance was for me and how much the confidence I gained is worth. Nick DiBattista ’18, Wilfrid Laurier University, Dual degree in Political Science and Law
Not only have I been able to learn about the world around me, but the school itself has given me an academic experience like none other, preparing me for university and independence while also always having a helping hand to reach out for when I need it. Neuchâtel is the perfect point between the safety blanket of a high school at home and the complete independence of going away for university. Ally Drage ’17, University of British Columbia - Food Nutrition and Health Science
Academically, studying at NJC pushed me to attain the highest I could achieve. With help from able teachers and the incentive to work hard during the week so that I could travel around Europe, I attained one of the highest marks on a midterm report, which let me get into my number one program. Heather McCann ’16, Western University - MIT
