Ski School Director
Welcome back to the Georgian Peaks Ski School—I hope everyone had a great summer and are looking forward to another winter of life and lessons here at The Georgian Peaks Club. Once again, we have a full complement of Staff ready to take you and your family out for weekly lessons.
New to the Staff Roster this year is Martha Lee who is returning after a three year absence. Martha is a favourite among the Members and will be working in the Adult Racing Program. Martha and Dave Bader (CSIA Level 4, and CSCF Level 3) who is returning for his second year will be working with Adult Racers in a new program called “Beyond the Gate”. This program will focus on improving skills through drills, video and technical feedback. Along with this new program we will be offering more varied terrain for “hill space”, and it won’t take long for it to become a Club favourite. Watch for more announcements as we get closer to the season opening.
Once again, we’ll be offering the Cubs program for two- year-olds. This is a one or two-day combination program, including time on snow as well as time in the nursery.
Please book early so we can plan appropriately for these one-on-one, specialized lessons.
The children’s Snow Bear and Polar Bear programs will run as usual for Christmas, and the 10-week program, and we will continue with our 6-year-old Friday Training. This is a good opportunity for our advanced athletes to get some extra mileage on the slopes. Please sign up early in the week so we can provide the appropriate staff. New this year is our March Break Camp (March 16-20) which will run for ve days rather than our normal four days.
There will also be lots of opportunity for you or your Guests to take a private lesson during prime-time Saturday or Sunday. This the perfect way to get some one on one individual instruction to help you learn the basics, to get you started or to show you ways to be more comfortable in the steeps. We have fully certi ed Instructors to work with all levels of ability. Please book early to secure your time.
Many of our Teen Club Members can be found working within the Alpine Program as Instructors or Volunteers. This involvement gives them a reason to stay active within the Club and we continue to encourage them to participate. If you have a Teen or Pre-Teen searching for direction, we can provide activity, education and experience. Please contact me for details at ext. 265.
