House League Racing
Our House League Race Program for kids in the U10 to U16 age groups, has been steadily growing since it was re-introduced in December of 2016. This season, athletes in Youth House League will participate in their own Race Series throughout the season towards the year- end overall athlete award in their age category. Also new this year, athletes can opt out of the dedicated freestyle training in favour of technical ski improvement on Sunday afternoons.
Youth Rec Ski
We continue to offer Youth Ski as a ski improvement group for ages 7+ in month long blocks, choose 5 weeks in January or February, alternate with Youth Snowboard to try something new, or ski for all 10 weeks. Groups ski all over the mountain, and get to participate in fun, skill- based events towards the year-end Snow School Games Cup!
SNOWBOARDING AT GEORGIAN PEAKS
Along with our Snowboard Rider Improvement Programs and Freestyle Snowboard Teams, we are pleased to continue offering programs catered to our youngest athletes, and adult snowboarders.
Mini Boards and Riglet Sessions
Has your 4-6 year old been asking to try snowboarding? In partnership with Burton, Georgian Peaks has the right equipment and lessons tailored for our youngest athletes to start shredding. Mini Boards is an 8-week program Saturday afternoons with small ratios for hands on learning. Kids can also try a 30-minute Riglet Lesson in our Mini Box Park next to the playground. Get in touch with the Snow School and Freestyle Of ce to nd out more.
Adult Snowboard Sessions
Are you a snowboard OG? We are super excited to have our former Freestyle Snowboard Coach, Level 3 Instructor and Canada Snowboard Coach Developer, Coach Brad, teaching our adult snowboarders to RIP it up this year! Have you been thinking about improving your riding skills, maybe learning a trick or two in the park or taking home a medal in the Snowboard Race at Club Championships this year? 2020 is the season to take part in our Adult Snowboarding program, Saturday mornings from 9:45 to 11:45. Get in touch with the Snowboard and Freestyle of ce about giving this program a test run, or nd the 4 and 8-week programs online for registration.
Be A Peaks Lift Buddy This Season
We are very fortunate to have so many young families in our Club. Along with the vibrant atmosphere and smiles comes a very healthy demographic that ensures longer term sustainability for The Peaks.
With so many little ones learning how to ski and ride, loading lifts can be a challenge for Coaches, Instructors and Students. Without the ideal ratio of adults to children, lift slow downs or stops can result and that frustrates everyone.
We have had great success with the Peaks Lift Buddy program and will be continuing it again this season. Each Lift Buddy will be identi ed with a small sticker on their badge. The presence of this sticker will let our Coaches and Instructors know that you are able and willing to help load a Student on a lift. Our lift system will be much more ef cient and our kids will have more fun and be safer as a result. When you pick up your badge this year we will ask if you would like to become a Lift Buddy.
