The Formula for Finding Area

You can find area by tiling a shape, or dividing it into squares.

To tile a rectangular shape, first draw lines from top to
bottom. Then, draw lines from left to right.

Finally, count the squares to find the area.

Just like with arrays, you can multiply the sides to find the 3 x 3 = ◊
area quickly. A = ◊ sq. units
