MEET THE DIRECTOR
Directorʼs Note:
Wilderness feels like a play rooted in our cur- rent reality. In a time where many of us feel isolated, this story sees possibility in that still- ness. (Whether chosen by us or for us.) Wil- derness also illustrates our innate need to share our own unique stories and experiences. (Even when it sometimes feels like that person we share our story with only exists on the
other side of a laptop screen.) Our characters are not only faced with the physical survival
challenges at their wilderness therapy, but they are also challenged with creating their own healthy boundaries, learning ways to be a better ally to friends in transition and finding their voice to talk about their own individual mental health struggles.
After a sudden venue change, a freak winter storm and a world-wide pandemic, somehow despite all of that, this cast and crew were able to give life to this production of Wilderness. Since the process began, they were proactive and diligent about their Covid safety, social distancing and constant Covid testing which kept us all healthy and allowed us to rehearse. They were so patient and flexible with the insurmountable amount of unknowns they faced. And they STILL managed to have a damn fine show! To say that I am a proud director is a vast under- statement. Thank you to the cast and crew
of Wilderness for letting me be a part of your unique story! (And a special thanks to my Dad, Ronald Harrell, for answering all of my dumb questions about camping so that at least the cast THOUGHT I knew what I was talking about.)
