ALL FORD DAY at Queensland Raceway
It was a ‘perfect weather’ Sunday when over 1,000 Fords turned up at the All Ford Day held recently at Queensland Raceway near Ipswich.
Yours truly was there with the Model T Hot Rod to rub shoulders with some familiar faces and check out the abundance of iconic Ford models including Capri, Escort, Thunderbird, Fairlane, Galaxy, Mustang, Cobra, GT40 and of course plenty of Falcons. I haven’t seen that many GT Falcons together since the fuel crisis of the late ‘70s when car yards were full of GTs after the ‘gas guzzling’ V8s were dumped by owners like a bad case of diarrhoea. There were models from all years with a good line-up of the original
Model ’ T ‘ Ford as well.
Notable Car Restorer Richard Coles (Myra Doyle’s son) took home a 1st Prize for his impeccably restored GT Cortina
(see photo) in the ‘All British Ford Club’ line up.
The crew from Bowdens were there of course, and always good to check out one of the cars from their collection – this one was an XW GTHO Falcon Phase II.
Plenty of action for the rev- heads with the Dyno and the drags but I was happy picking up a few parts from the swap meet which made for a good day all round.
