expected to be cut in half by lunchtime. Graeme and his trusty phone came to the party again and secured another night’s accommodation in 2 apartments. So off, in the rain, to Kingscliff we go! Checked into the Mantra – lovely apartments with a beautiful pool, shame it was pouring rain... again.
We decided to go to Byron (for something to do, in the rain) and as Ken and Pat had thoughtfully taken their 7-seater we were able to set off in 2 cars instead of 4. What a splendid “Mystery Tour Guide’ Ken makes!
The weather really closed in again and so the beautiful scenery on the way to Byron was only to be imagined.... as not much was visible beyond the side of the road. The rain eased and we had a bit of a look around Byron to find somewhere for lunch. Things were very busy, so it was suggested we head on to Bangalow for lunch. Unfortunately, we didn’t have much time to look around this pretty little town after lunch then back on Ken’s Mystery Tour back to Kingscliff.
Ken, Pat, John and Ann decided to ‘eat in’ and Graeme, Bernadette, Mick and I went downstairs to a Thai restaurant for dinner. The food was wonderful and the
drinks...... well I ended up wearing 2 glasses of wine when the poor waiter tipped his tray, so all our
drinks were gratis!
Come Sunday, Graeme and Bernadette decided to stay another night in Kingscliff and the rest of us headed home, in the
rain!
We may not have seen
any racing but it was still a great weekend!
