Club Mystery Trip Hinterland drive and lunch at Terella Brewing
We were a happy bunch of mystery travellers despite the dreary weather which eventually turned into a heavy drizzle.
The ‘meet’ was at the Cooroy Sports ground where fortunately there was great parking space for the 20 or so cars turning up for an exciting day out. Many had brought along their ‘daily drive’ because of the weather, but there were a few distinctive classics as the photos show.
The ‘English weather’ [as described by John McGovern !! ] did not dampen spirits or curiosity as we followed Ken and Pat’s excellent route instructions. Managing to avoid various sized pot holes in the country roads it was first stop at Amamoor Station for morning tea and then onwards through beautiful country hills to Terella Brewing at North Arm for lunch.
The weather finally succumbing to incessant drizzle Ken was on hand with his Mary Poppins-style super-brolly to guide us all to a parking space. Unfortunately due to the weather we could not park on the expansive grassed paddock so we walked the short distance from the car park to the Brewery building with our umbrellas and turned up collars.
Ignoring the outside patio area which would be lovely in the sunshine, we sat amongst the brewers paraphernalia and huge vats of unusual brews eating the excellent pizzas from the van out front.
Most of the boys tucked into one of the wide varieties of beer available while some of the girls tried out the ‘hard’ lemonade such as ‘Mad dog hibiscus and lychee’ whilst others enjoyed the 'Mad dog Ginger Beer’ – all slightly ‘alcofrolic’ at 4%.
A happy and relaxed day beautifully organised by Ken and Pat McGregor and John McGovern who really did not have much luck ordering the weather... many thanks to them all.
