Noosa Marine Boat Building Tour
I had spoken to owner of Noosa Marine (and RCC member) Julian Griffiths a few times but I had never been to his boat building facility, which is in a very unassuming industrial shed at Noosaville. Over 30 members came along with me to see one of Julians creations – a single hull ‘day tripper’ boat which has been custom-made for a client.
The build is just incredible, and it’s hard to believe that Julian and a couple of workers can produce such an impressive boat locally. Julian gave us an insight about his early years working for a Brisbane-based boat builder which led him to build custom made single and twin hull boats for clients.
The boat he is currently building will cost $1.5 million and is in the final stages with twin Mercury outboards that have twin propellers – high and low range! The boat is also fitted with a central gyro stabilising system for keeping the boat steady in rough waters.
We were all so impressed and very appreciative of our special tour of Julians Factory – just amazing!
