Saturday 12th August VISIT TO THE NEW BRISBANE MOTOR MUSEUM and a PRIVATE SHED TOUR
A meet-up at Aussie World of around 40 Roadrunner Car Club members was the start of a great day as we headed off to Brisbane with a few doing the ride-share.
After a hassle free drive we arrived at the new Brisbane Motor Museum in Banyo, Brisbane where a few more members and guests from Brisbane joined us.
A quick coffee and it was time to check out the inventory, with a mix of rare, classic beauties on display.
Many of the members commented on their favourite cars like the Ford Sierra Cosworth, the Vauxhall Velox, Skyline Hakasouka, Jaguar XK and of course the Beautiful MG SA Saloon belonging to our own Club member Scott Eyre. The Museum’s café was kept busy with 50 of us having lunch after our inspection of the cars.
The Museum will change the cars every 3 months so a return visit will be on the cards for sure!
Many thanks to Tony Slattery for organising the Museum visit and getting the group discount entry too.
After lunch we headed homeward and took a small detour to visit a private shed in Burpengary. The owner, Daniel Cuthbert with his father Noel, greeted us on arrival with cool drinks which was much appreciated on such a surprisingly warm day.
Daniel’s family previously owned the 1936 Oldsmobile that I have restored – we are both members of the Oldsmobile Club of Australia.
Their collection of old cars, trucks, tractors and stationary engines is quite impressive. All of us wandered through Daniel’s massive shed and listened to many of his interesting stories about the collection. A huge thank-you to Daniel for sharing his collection with us all.
By late afternoon we were all heading home and looking forward to watching the Matilda’s !! (what a game!!!)
A big thanks to everyone who made the trip to Brisbane, it was a great day amongst friends and fellow motoring enthusiasts.
Cheers Noel
