65CC OPEN
Jayden Clough continued his domination in the 65cc Open class with another pair of victories across Saturday and Sunday. Kyle Smith finished both motos on the podium with 3rd and 2nd place finishes, respectively. Maddox Jarvis redeemed himself after a difficult race in the 65cc 10-11 class with another 2nd place finish backed by a solid 4th
to fill the last spot on the box. Brandon Shaw put his KTM out front early in the first moto; his lead lasted one lap
as Jaden Clough came screaming to the front of the field by setting the fastest lap time of the moto while doing so.
The Minnesotan held onto the lead until the checkered flag as he won ahead of the KTM of Maddox Jarvis by about
7.5 seconds. Jarvis started 3rd place and worked his way past fellow KTM rider, Shaw, on the second lap. The Utah native was able to resist a late race charge from Georgia’s Kyle Smith, crossing the finish line under a second apart. Smith battled back from a 5th place start, moving into 3rd on the second lap and setting laps on pace with Clough as
he charged after Jarvis. Clough and Smith had a heated battle for the 1st place position in the second moto as Smith finally got the start on the Kawasaki rider. Clough closed down the gap between the two as the race wore on, eventually passing for the lead on the penultimate lap with the fastest lap of the moto. The Minnesota native held onto the lead until the checkered flag, edging out the victory over Rides Unlimited’s Kyle Smith; the two of them put on a fantastic display of intense racing for the Ponca City crowd. Jordan Renfro finished where he started in 3rd position, putting in stable lap times as he held off the storming KTM of Maddox Jarvis in the closing laps of the race. Jarvis came up just short of the podium for the second moto, but his ride from 5th to 4th was enough to secure 3rd place overall on the weekend.
