51CC OPEN
Diesel Thomas dominated the 51cc Open class with two moto victories, undeniably giving him 1st place overall. Bradyn Johnson scored a pair of 2nd place finishes in order to earn himself 2nd place overall ahead of Kevin Christine who put in 6-3 moto scores to round out the podium. In the first moto, Diesel Thomas made it easy on himself as he pulled the holeshot and gained the early lead, charging forward throughout the entire race and putting in the fastest lap in the process. He took the checkered flag ahead of Florida’s Brandyn Johnson with a fairly sizeable
gap that left him time to soak up the moment. Johnson rode the entire race in 2nd position, clocking consistent lap after lap as he kept 3rd place Nathan Hummel at bay. Kevin Christine had to overcome a fair bit of adversity as he battled back from an 11th place start; he had worked his way up to 7th position on the penultimate lap, eventually securing 6th place with a last gasp pass toward the end of the moto. The second moto was more of the same for Diesel Thomas; he brought his Cobra to yet another flawless moto victory as
he led the race from beginning to end. Bradyn Johnson replicated his ride in the first moto to secure a stellar 2nd place finish with one of the most calculated rides of the weekend, keeping the pressure on Thomas all the time. Kevin Christine didn’t give himself a mountain to climb with a poor start in the second moto as he put himself in 3rd place from the gate drop. The Wyoming native rode a mistake free race in order to fend off a charging Brody Cook and secure the final spot on the overall podium.
